We're doing pretty darn well: 4,272 questions have been asked and 4252 were answered so far. 99.53% of questions have been answered.

Any complaints, questions, comments, or help requests should be directed here.

Policies and Guidelines

  1. Your question must be relevant to Final Fantasy (it can be a Kingdom Hearts Question if it involves Final Fantasy content, and can contain fan-content, such as 8-bit Theater and the Spoony One.) Any non-Final Fantasy questions will be deleted. If your question is not related to Final Fantasy, you may want to ask it at our parent site.
  2. Make your question family appropriate. Anything relating to racial, sexist, homophobic, or any form of discrimination content will not be tolerated and be deleted followed with a ban on the second offense.
  3. Your question should be answerable. "Where is mission 13?" Well, in which game? Tactics Advance, XIII, or something else...? Furthermore, questions like "Final Fantasy XI!?" don't really make any sense. Due to the recent amount of questions that ignore this rule, unacceptably vague questions will now be deleted if not properly revised.
  4. Don't harass other members.
  5. Don't break the Wikia Terms of Use.
  6. Do not delete answers unless they conflict with the rules, or have the facts wrong.
  7. Expect and avoid spoilers! If you must spoil, please use the {{spoilers}} template.

I more or less just wrote this one for NemesisX and Mateus to see, since they’re both horror fans and I want them to consider getting this game.

Alan Wake is a third person Psychological Horror game (In layman’s terms, a colossal mindfuck) for the Xbox 360 and PC set in the fictional town Northwestern town Bright Falls in the not-so-fictional state of Washington. (Right in my goddamn backyard, pretty much, not creepy at all for a horror game....) The game is named after the protagonist, one Alan Wake, who must battle the forces of a godlike dark presence that is haunting the town and is unusually fixated on him.

    1. It's stated the requirement to play Blitzball is you must be able to hold your breath for over 5 minutes...if you can do that without causing mild brain damage from depriving your brain of oxygen periodically or suffocating yourself, you're just a goddamn freak.
    2. Forget breathing underwater, it's next to impossible to clearly SEE underwater without eye gear.
    3. The ball would either float to the top or sink to the bottom unless held in place through an external attachment. No in between. Basic law of physics.
    4. Given that a blitzball is apparently dense enough to be used as a deadly weapon, it's weight would make swimming too difficult.
    5. Given the former-mentioned detail, a blitzball wouldn't be able to float, either. Kicking it would also break your…

    Kimahri: Pros and Cons

Okay, I wrote this about Kimahri Ronso, as he seems to be a useless character with some quickly chucked-in backstory, horn problems, and how he seems to be forgotten in the terms of battle.

Wait, did I just sum up the Cons? OH SHI-

    }

    Anyhoo, here they are:

    Pros:

1: First, he’s an awesome looking character. I mean, he looks like a tiger smurf. All blue and white, and stuff… Spears, broken horn, muscles, TEETH.

2: He is perfectly fine in battle (until Auron comes along). He has good strength, you usually get elemental spears from bosses, and Jump is perfectly fine for battle.

Also, his “abilities” as a Ronso are perfectly described in his little cinematic appearance where HE TRIES TO KILL THE MAIN CHARACTER. Overreaction? I t…

    Emperor Mateus

Hi all. It's just me, Mateus, here with my opinions on Final Fantasy IX's hero, Zidane Tribal.

I decided to write up a blog partly due to the slow activity lately, and partly because Nem has been playing Final Fantasy IX for the first time, so it re-sparked my interest in the game.

If you've read my previous blogs, about why silver-haired arsonists are overrated and what I think of XIII, then you should know by now that I am a huge fan of the PS1-era Final Fantasies, IX in particular.

So, without further ado, let's begin. The following is an opinion and does not reflect the community's views. Keep that in mind while reading!

    • 2 The importance of music in video games.
    • 3 Stupid commercials
    • 4 Video Game Movies.

So today I was playing Skyrim. Then I was playing Shadow of the Colossus. And then I was playing Red Dead Redemption. And you know what's similar between these three games? Horses are all FUCKING RETARDED.

    • Running away from their rider.
    • Darting in between battles between you and the enemy.
    • walking off and ending up somewhere completely seperate from where you are.

Seriously, we've got god knows HOW MANY game development companies, and they cannot figure horse AI out? These three problems are CONSISTANT in almost every game I've played, with the exception of the Legend of Zelda. And you could make the argument that this gives horses realistic response to scen…

So I picked up the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection at the request of a friend who wanted me to write this review. As far as video games go, these two are considered to be the closest thing to true art a video game has ever attained, and I could not call myself a true gamer without playing these two games.

I'm only going to review Shadow of the Colossus right now, as I have not yet played Ico much at this point. Did I like this game? Let's start with the plot.

The world is dying. Every day, fertile soil turns to sand, as part of an ancient Empire that abused the power of Flux, and as a fault has doomed the planet to desertification. What the fuck is wrong with game developers lately? I just heard the motives of the main antagonists in Mass Effect 3, and it's the most goddamn retarded thing I've ever heard. I am so fucking sick of every goddamn game nowadays trying to justify the villain's actions, like anyone gives a shit.

A villain is described as "a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel; or a character in a play, novel, or the like, who constitutes an important evil agency in the plot" so it's really stupid when the game suddenly curveballs you by saying that the villain's evil is on part due to a twisted, but reasonable logic. I don't give a shit, I'm going to kill this motherfucker anyway, I could care less WHY I'm…

    Version Used for Review: PS3.

I wasn’t going to finish this one, but I might as well, since I actually bothered to write the damn thing.

Fallout: New Vegas is the latest entry in the popular Fallout franchise. It is an open world adventure RPG set in the Mojave Desert, which wasn’t exactly bustling with life before the Nuclear apocalypse, so it brings into question exactly HOW is this a not just a desert simulator? Nothing changed after the bombs fell, except there’s just craters everywhere now.

Guess who's been drinking again!? Anyway...this is my list...Final fantasy characters I can't stand.

These are basically characters I honestly think were the dumbest additions to the games.

Aerith will not be on this list, despite my rant, because while I do not like her...I do not hate her either.

    • 1 Professor Hojo: FF7
    • 2 Ultros: FF6
    • 3 Tidus' voice actor: FF10
    • 4 Palmer: FF7
    • 5 Cosmos: Dissidia
    • 6 Shantotto: FF11

This guy is crap...He is possibly the most irritating villain in the series. He has no reason to his actions, no higher goal, nothing. He is just evil for the sake of being evil. But what really makes me seriously hate this dude is how much story importance this douche has. He is basically the cause of EVERYTHING in Final Fantasy 7, and yet? The ga…

Final Fantasy Villains Pros and Cons: (Work in progress.)

Edit: Want to contribute to the fun? Write a section of your own and send it to my talk page. If I like it, it'll appear here. All villains, even from the spinoff titles and sequels are welcome.

Alright...Final Fantasy has some pretty good villains. From the Demon Chaos to the Annoyingly difficult to kill Seymour Guado. However, they are not by any means perfect. While they stack up to be my favorites among video game villainy, I found heavy flaws in their backstory. So let’s get to it. This is Final Fantasy Villains Pros and Cons. Note that this is going by their original portrayals. Not the Dissidia kind.

Now, this is not in order of who I like most. It is not a Top Ten List. It is no…

    Dancing Mad remix

    February 22, 2012 by Lockexceles34

A masterful remix of the themes to everyone's favorite Mad God.

Edit: Yeah, I know I may have incorrectly said this was Dancing Mad, apparently it's not...I don't have time to sit through a 14 minute song for no reason, so I couldn't tell it wasn't that. At least, the last one isn't. Just kind of a mash of different versions of the normal theme...I don't know. This song's too damn long, and my attention span's too short to check.

LockexCeles34’s list of Best/Worst Final bosses.

I am a very opinionated person, I’m sure you’ve all come to learn. One of my biggest marks in a video game is the Final Boss. Look, this is the climax of a game, a moment where it truly shines. When everything you have done comes down to the final climax of the game. It can be truly satisfying, or absolutely insulting. This list contains a little bit of both.

Final Boss fights are something of an artform. You expect them to be nothing less than the game’s masterpiece, a scene of incredible detail, visually, emotionally, etc. Now, there are games that can achieve this, to great results.

There are also those that fuck it up entirely. And I’ll be addressing the two sides of this.

    Note, yes, I reali…

Did you all enjoy my Aerith rant? Well, good, because now I'm going to bag on Necron.

So I recently completed Final Fantasy 9. Good game, I might say. But I have to say, that Final Boss...what the fuck, Square, were you serious with this guy? In the all of fifteen minutes this guy was on screen, you managed to turn him into the biggest joke of a villain ever. Let's examine.

Look, I'll overlook the whole popping up at the last minute thing, but holy crap, did they SERIOUSLY stop giving a fuck whatsoever making Necron. Let's address.

Did they seriously use THIS line? Really? For those of you who don't know...click on this video I've put up after reading that.

We're all gamers of different likes, and interests. We come from many backgrounds, but one thing remains true to us all. Video Games are the greatest thing EVER. As we grow, they've grown. And now, after this long pilgrimage through many computer rendered tales, I ask you...What is your favorite time of gaming? What was your favorite console age?

For me? It is not difficult. I will always give my heart to...

Final Fantasy 7 is my favorite Final Fantasy. And lately I've been seeing a lot of comments from people wanting SquareEnix to remake Final Fantasy 7.

...Am I the only one who thinks that's a fucking terrible idea?

That would be asking the company that RUINED Final Fantasy 7 by working Cloud into a mopey, brooding nit, unnecessary plot development, and a reworked Sephiroth, to remake Final Fantasy 7, one of the greatest Final Fantasies ever in my opinion. You are asking Square-Enix to rework the game into what THEY think is a better version. Does no one see something wrong with that?

    • This is a company that renamed Golbez Theodore, for fuck's sake.

When you remake a game, you don't just touch up the graphics. There's a lot more to it. You rework…

Didn’t I say I’d put up Fallout first? Ah, fuck it.

Alright, so I figured, this is a Final Fantasy site, so at least one of my game reviews has to be a Final Fantasy game. Well, for my first Final Fantasy review, I think I’d start off with my first Final Fantasy. Number VII. Here is Locke’s Retro Review of Final Fantasy 7.

Final Fantasy 7 was the first 3D entry of the popular franchise, and was the entry point of many Final Fantasy fans, and JRPG fans in general. It was first released in 1997, and has since spawned a plethora of sequels, films, and disturbing fan fiction. It is heralded by many to be the best game ever made, but also thought by others to be immensely overrated. Never the less, it is quite obvious the kind of impact such a ga…

    Valkyria Chronicles

Valkyria Chronicles is a strategy RPG that was released by SEGA for the PS3. It stars in the fictional country of Gallia in the Totally-Not-Europe continent Europa. It combines the elements of a third person shooter with turn based strategy in expansive levels. The game is set in a fictional World War 2 like concept meant to appeal to RPG lovers, and features many elements from both anime and JRPGs in it’s story. Since it’s release, it’s obtained an anime adaptation and two sequels, one for the PSP, and another that’s yet to see an english release.

    Top 5 Best FF games

February 3, 2012 by The Nemesisx

Ok instead of flooding up the Questions section i decided to create it here. Just to let everyone know, im goining by ff games i have played which is only IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, X, X-2 and XII.

    • 2 4.) Final Fantasy VI
    • 3 3.) Final Fantasy VIII
    • 4 2.) Final Fantasy X
    • 5 1.) Final Fantasy IV

GAMEPLAY- VII!?, NUMBER 5!?, IMPOSSIBRU, yeah well you better belive it. The most so called best FF game is ranked 5 here because of it's overatedness and the fact that i found 4 better ff games over it. Gameplay wise it was fun, sure the graphics were poor but like i care about graphics so long as the game is fun, the Materia system i had it's flaws how ever, i hated the fact that the more materia i equpied the lower my HP got, dueing the final …

Okay, so for my example review, I’m going to start off with a game I very much appreciated called Nier. This’ll be my attempt to show you all how I intend to do things for reviews.

Nier is a JRPG and the last game ever developed by the company Cavia before it’s sad downfall like all greats. Nier is an alternate sequel to Cavia’s earlier game Drakengard, based off the non-canon E ending from that game. An interesting idea to say the least.

TAKE NOTES ON THAT STATEMENT, Game designers, that’ll get you goldmines. Not you, Square-Enix, because I know what you’ll use it on.

It was released in 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but didn’t really sell well. And you may be wondering why I’d draw attention to a game that didn’t come out recently. Well, th…

    A simple question

    January 30, 2012 by Lockexceles34

You know, I've seem to have become relatively infamous for being a whiny bastar-I mean, lovable critic, which seems to be my defining trait on this wiki, so I ask you, the fans of this wiki, for a little input on something...

    • Do you think I should do game reviews?

Now, granted, there's only so many Final Fantasies in the world to review, so I wouldn't mind doing some other Square title or even go out further, like Pandemic's Swan Song, Saboteur (Don't listen to "professionals", this game's actually really good, and if you like Freedom Fighter stuff, you'll be in heaven), just in my spare time. I've come to realize the rule of FF relevancy is only for the questions section, while blogs are a more open form of expression, so it's your opinion.…

Okay, so because I'm a nice guy and ignoring the fact I completely hated Final Fantasy XIII, I took the honors (Or stupidity, from another perspective) of playing the demo for Final Fantasy XIII-2, as your token of input before the game is released this coming week. Here is my summary.

Noel Kreiss: This demo didn't do shit to establish any sense of attachment or repulsion in these characters...Noel is...tolerable, I guess. His voice acting is pretty decent, even though he sounds like Goofy's son Max from A Goofy Movie, but since this was a short demo, I can't really say much about him. I will say though, this guy wins the award for "Stupidest pants ever" because they don't cut off into the leg sleeves until way past his knees. Not the most …

Sorry, no rant for you this time, though I'm open to suggestions. I'm just genuinely curious as to what everyone's favorite video game songs are. And they can be any video game, regardless of if it's Final Fantasy or not. Mine are as follows.

The Best is Yet to Come

Shadowlord's Castle/Roar Though I could argue the majority of this game's soundtrack is worthy of mention.

    The True Mirror

Edit: Also, I want to make this clear, I DO NOT take requests on rants, because the point of a rant is to vent your frustration with something, and if I'm just going off about something because someone asked me to, it defeats the point.

Hi all, ive been hearing and reading alot of these things about SOPA but, being an Australian and not an American, im not to sure how the politcal game works in USA but anyway it would seem they wish to censore alot of things which will have a massive effect upon Wikia's world wide, now if thats the case i would hate to think what would happen to the our little humble community here, hopefully it wont have a huge effect upon us. Now i just wanted to say thank you all for useing this wikia and hopefully IF the SOPA passes it wont make much changes and the FFA Wiki can continue to run as it usually does, i wont lie, there has been talk on many other wikas that if the SOPA comes throught its "bye bye wiki" in a manner of speaking, i doubt thi…

FFX-2, the first OFFICAL sequel to a FF game but failed in so many levels, FFX-2 has so many flaws in it that im gona make a pin point to each one.

The Eternal Calm, it was nice to see how Spira had changed after Yu Yevon and Sin had been destroyed for good.

Remember VIII? The FF game everyone either hated or loved, no in between? Well, let's talk about it.

Because Catuse doesn't want to write this for long strings on end and risk losing coherency, he's gonna be updating this a bit at a time.

Now, I didn't enjoy VIII as much as some other games, and there are a lot of reasons why. Now, VIII would appeal to people who like romance plots, but I mostly play games for the gameplay, with the other stuff as 'add-ons'. And VIII got a lot of its gameplay from VII, like the 3D ATB; of course, ATB was around long before that, until X nuked it. T_T.

But I've never beaten VIII, partially because the gameplay it didn't get from VII was a drag. Junction System? No. New Limit Breaks? No. Ridiculous character deve…

    Hello readers.

Inspired by Locke's recent blog on Aerith, I've decided to make a little evaluation of my own. If you've read my previous analysis on a certain silver-haired psycho, you might have realised that I'm a big fan of the Squaresoft era of Final Fantasy. So, without further ado, let's begin.

Final Fantasy XIII has quickly become one of the series most popular games. It has …

Holy fucking Christ, is this bastard massive. It was originally meant to be a small rant, but I couldn't stop finding things to nag about..

Okay, so when I wrote the original draft for my Aerith rant, I was actually pretty plastered, as informal as it is for me to admit it, so I'm going to reboot this rant and make it something a little better, now that I'm sober.

Note that this'll keep some elements from the original draft, since I was pleased with those. But here we go, Aerith, round 2.

Well, now, a little backstory about my relationship with Aerith. I used to love Aerith. I used to think she was as great a character as any in Final Fantasy. She was pretty, she had a nice staff, she was offset from guys like Barret with his frickin' gun on …

    Love to hate FF7

I'am not a fanboy for any game but it seems people here on answers love to hate FF7. I wonder why?

So everyone else is writing rants and overly long opinions in their blogs, I might as well be one of the cool kids too.

Well, I don't see why people who are very logical most of the time are forever bashing Cait Sith's battle mechanics. (Or his role in the storyline, which was an odd combo of Quina and Auron, but was both hilarious and greatly important, and I need not go into if you were paying attention to Reeve half the time he was on-screen. Let's go over what's so useful about Cait Sith:

    • Materia slots: The Silver M-Phone is a very early obtained weapon that has a Slot value of 8. IIRC he has the first 8-Slot Weapon of the permanent characters (I'm not factoring Aerith or Sephiroth into my rant for frankly obvious reasons.) Right after y…

Okay, I've seen a lot of questions on this wiki... but what is the deal with people thinking Sephiroth is the strongest villain of the series?

I liked Final Fantasy VII. I thought it was one of the best games in the series (not the best, but still pretty damn good). And I did think Sephiroth was a good villain too. But come on, guys... he's not as overpowered as most FFVII fans make him out to be.

Let's see, what's the worst thing he ever did in the whole game? The extent of his evil? Let me think... Oh. I remember. He burned down a small town and killed the weak and defenceless civilians. Yes, that does show that he's cruel. But does that make him the strongest villain ever? Arson and the murder of a few country folk? I think not.

    Let's disreg…

You probably have realized all the new templates around FFAnswers. Here's a summary of what each of them are for:

    • - If a page is about to break out into a flamewar, stick this template at the bottom and we'll come by and protect the page from anonymous users from being able to edit it.
    • - If you are posting opinions that may irritate fanboys, use to warn people not to get too angry.
    • - Is a user causing problems? Use this template to politely warn this user, as well as calling up the admins to watch him and ban if need be.
    • - Used by admins when banning users.
    • - If a page is not needed for some reason, have us dispose of it with this template.
    • - Questions that aren't clear enough

    Wikia's server flaking

    December 18, 2011 by Catuse167

For one reason or another, Wikia's server keeps bugging up. For example, I couldn't edit at times and it won't let me into Community Corner, despite being an admin. We apologize for the inconvinence. Pages may take a while to load and editing often doesn't work, but it should be back and up in a couple days. Also, Chat seems broken at times. Don't panic, Wikia is notable for doing stupid stuff like updating their servers for no reason at all.

Okay, ever since I took over this job, people (Not necessarily people on here, I'm not out to belittle any of my members here, I love assisting you guys) have found fit to ask me, why didn't they use a Phoenix Down on Aeris? Given this is a Q&A wiki, I figured it was my Administrative duty to answer this most infamous of questions.

    • Well, what makes Aeris so special, for one? There's a lot of Final Fantasy characters that have died. Galuf. General Leo. Chappu. Rydia's mother. Why in the hell does no one see fit to think these people deserve a savior in the form of mythological plumage?

Back on my point, though. You are NOT supposed to apply battle mechanics to the actual storyline. The Phoenix Down only exists as a means for you to revive you…

You know, this has been bugging the crap out of me, ever since my brutal clash with the infamous Mysterious Figure from Kingdom Hearts...Why is it that Hidden bosses in Square games are generally ten times as hard as the Final boss? Shouldn't all the challenge go to the final villain of the game? It just seems very disappointing I kill the ultimate evil being in the world, and then there's this other guy who makes him look like a complete joke. In terms of consistancy, it's quite wierd I kill a god/Time traveling witch/super weapon/Planet eater in the Endgame, and this random creature/person/robot/whatever is suddenly more powerful...if this dude was so strong, why isn't HE the villain? And if he's really a good guy, why the goddamn hell d…

You know what I REALLY can't stand? People from any video game fanbase who make the argument. "It's not bad, it's just different". So, because it's different, it's suddenly good? Bullshit! Just because something changes doesn't mean it changes for the better. It IS possible that something could actually change for the worst. *Coughyunacough* It's like putting a wrecking ball through someone's roof and expecting them to enjoy the 12 foot wide hole in their ceiling because it's something new that wasn't in their house before. Or say someone slices off your finger in the middle of the street. That's different, would you like that?

    • Case in point, how about we use a more detailed example: Let's take a look at a character most people probably kno…

    Our split from the FFWiki

    December 10, 2011 by Catuse167

A change in this wiki now it is no longer part of the FFWiki. We are now an independant wiki. This was for the post part not our decision. It's fine, but expect to see a decrease in questions now. That, and a lot of questions were troll questions anyways.
