    Nostalgia Corner 4

    February 28, 2014 by Lockexceles34

Just a quick recap in case you're new to this series, the Nostalgia Corner is where I take old video games from the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's and review them to see if the game is still enjoyable and the mechanics have held up well. Many of these games I grew up with as a child, so if I don't give this game a stellar review, it's not because I hate the game, but because I genuinely don't feel the gameplay would appeal to the modern gaming standards. Their mechanics do not hinder my ability to adore the game, though. Well...sometimes they don't.

The rules here still stand, no games made post 2005, and no game that had a remake. And HD collections don't count as a remake. And graphics don't factor into the review unless I find them very ob…

Alright, we all know that Hironobu Sakaguchi was probably the best thing to ever happen to Squaresoft, creating their massively famous Final Fantasy franchise, and the impact was felt when he finally left Square-Enix. It seems that that charm and talent he possessed in creating games for the company has been lost, and cannot be replaced.

However, that is not to say this man has stopped making video games. In fact, his legacy lives on, in two of the most amazing RPGs I've ever played. One is Lost Odyssey, a game that kept the traditional Final Fantasy gameplay style you'd come to expect from Sakaguchi. It is fucking amazing.

The other is the lesser beloved little brother of Lost Odyssey, Last Story. (Oh, nice little joke there, Sakaguchi. Nic…

Hoo, you guys are in for a treat with this one. My darling hates this game, and she has asked me to write a blog on it. Well, since I don't want to sleep on the couch tonight, let's pop this bitch in the PS3 while I pop the tab on a Hurricane. If I'm going to play ths game, I am not going to do it sober.

I'll continue the Ergheiz review after this one. I promise. This is just a special review for someone dear to me.

Alright, time to confess something. I actually DO like some Call of Duty games. I thought the Modern Warfares were okay, welll....Except 3, that one's fucking crap, and I remember playing the PS2 titles quite often as a kid. But the reason I'm not optimistic with this one? Even Call of Duty fans are saying this one sucks. It had …

So...What the flying fuck is up with the price of video games online these days?

No, I'm not talking about Gamestop, I don't see the big deal, I've always had fantastic dealings with that company, they've given me good, honest opinions, and I don't even think their trade-in offers are that bad. I got $200 in trade-in on them once, and if I was there the day before, I'd have gotten $400 trade-in. Hell, I even got an extra 10% because it just happened to be my birthday. I'm talking about the money grubbing assholes on the online market who charge small fortunes for games that are practically ancient.

Okay, a little nugget of knowledge, you know how I get all my old games I review? Coolroms? Emuparadise? No. I actually buy every single game I r…

Well, I feel bad that I haven't done any reviews in a while and I apologize. With being married and rent and stuff like that, just kind of taken my focus off really playing video games for the time being. But I think I've got a good one this time.

Ergheiz: God Bless the Ring is a fighting game created by a company called Dreamfactory for the playstation. You might have heard of this one. Yes, it's the one with the Final Fantasy 7 characters in the roster, at least the home console version, the one I am playing, does. This was originally going to be part of the new Nostalgia Corner I'm working on, but I felt it might serve better as a standalone review.

Please excuse me if this turns out to be a pretty brief review. When discussing a fighting…
